The 1936 Shilling was the final year of the George V Shilling series. The type was produced at the Melbourne Mint to a figure of 1,424,000 pieces. This
mintage
was mostly typical for the series however it came about after a five year period of very low or no issues due to the
Great Depression. As a result of its strong
mintage
the year is among the least valuable and least scarce of the series. Collectors seeking an affordable mint-state example
of the George V Shilling series may find 1936 a good year to look.
