The sixpence series started in 1910 in the last year of Edward VII's reign and was struck at the Royal
Mint in London. The reverse features the Coat of Arms with
ADVANCE AUSTRALIA across the scroll, SIXPENCE up the top and the year of issue down the bottom. The
obverse features King Edward VII facing to the right with the
legend, EDWARDVS VII D : G : BRITT : OMN :
REX F : D : IND : IMP ( Edward VII, by the grace of god, ruler and king of Britain, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India ).
Being a one-year type, the only to bear the portrait of King Edward VII, the coin was often hoarded resulting in a greater
availability of better grade pieces with the date being readily available in the lower mint state
grades. In MS64 or higher the date becomes quite difficult though is still obtainable with some effort though collectors
may need to consider the
specimen
strikes if they desire a coin at or beyond MS66.
