The 1943-Y Penny was struck at the Perth Mint to a
mintage
of 33,086,400 which was one of the highest for the series. In the same year the Melbourne
Mint produced 11,112,000 pieces. The Perth Mint variety
can be differentiated by the presence of a small dot mint-mark located after the 'Y' in 'PENNY'. The high
mintage
of this type makes it quite affordable into mint-state, only becoming quite expensive around MS64.
