In 1942 the Australian Penny was struck at both the Perth and Bombay Mint. There is one Perth
variety which can be identified by a small dot after the Y in 'PENNY' and two Bombay varieties; both featuring dots before
the 'P' and after the 'Y' in Penny and only one featuring a small 'I' mint
-mark under the obverse effigy. The 1942-I Sans I Penny was struck to
a total
mintage
of 9,000,000 which was quite typical for the series. The type is quite scarce and demands high values across all grades.
