Sales History

In 2013 the Royal Australian Mint produced two designs in partnership with Australia Zoo. This piece features a colour printed image of the crocodile Bindi, which was Steve Irwin's favourite crocodile, along with the legend "SALTWATER CROCODILE BINDI - ONE DOLLAR." The obverse features the standard Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II with the legend "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2013".

Born in Australia in 1962 Steve Irwin was an Australian television personality and the zookeeper of Australia Zoo. Irwin rose to international fame in the mid 90's with the release of his documentary series 'The Crocodile Hunter'. Irwin was killed by a stingray in 2006 while filming in Queensland.
