The National Farmers' Federation proclaimed 2012 to be the Australian Year of the Farmer celebrating all the contributions Australian farmers have made to Australia (National Farmer's Federation, 2012) . In commemoration of this, the Royal Australian mint struck 20,000 commemorative dollar coins featuring a linearly partitioned design with each section displaying a various field of Australian agriculture. The obverse features the standard Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
