The Australian Taxation Office
The Australian Taxation Office celebrated its centenary year on the 12th November 2010. It would have been on the 11th but a clash with Remembrance Day meant that it needed to be moved as a mark of respect. The event marks a 100 year history of helping to build Australia into the place it is today. The office is proud of its commitment and endeavour that has made it so successful. The slogan for the centenary is 'Working for all Australians' which reflects the office's ideals and beliefs. From its humble beginnings, it has grown to be an internationally respected organisation that was first proposed by then Prime Minister Andrew Fisher (Australian Government, 2013) to fund important social policies and support the old and disabled Australians. This year was an opportunity to reflect on achievements made possible through fairly administering an effective tax system. In the future it will continue to protect and deliver one of the world's leading tax and superannuation administrations by listening to and working with the community.
