The Royal Australian Mint produced this one dollar piece to celebrate a century since the establishment of Girl Guides
The male-dominated Scouting movement was established in 1907 by Lieutenant General Robert Baden-Powell. In 1910 Baden-Powell recognised the need for a similar program for women and he was lead to create "The Girl Guides". Since 1910 Guiding groups emerged around the world with Australia being no exception. Since its founding over a million Australian women have or are still members of the Girl Guides.
