Sales History

?

The Type II five cent was issued from 1985 until 1998 and featured the new Raphael Maklouf portrait of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, with Stuart Devlin's echidna design on the reverse. Devlin's initials (SD) can be found directly underneath the denomination (see image below).

The series was struck exclusively at the Royal Australian Mint in a cupro-nickel alloy with an additional silver proof produced in 1991 as part of the year's Masterpieces in silver set. An unknown number of extremely rare business strike mules were also minted in 1988 and a unique 1991 proof mule was also minted.
