Sales History

?

After King George V's accession, fifty cent pieces were first struck for the colony in 1920 featuring the same reverse design as Type II Edward VII issues with a partitioned ring design with 50 CENTS in the inner circle with the legend, STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. HALF DOLLAR followed by the date while the obverse features the Mackennal effigy of King George V and the legend , GEORGE V KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA.The issue was struck in 1920 and 1921 with the former year being quite scarce though the latter, to the benefit of type set collectors, is readily available in any grade.
