?

To celebrate fifty years since they were founded the Royal Australian Mint issued a number of pieces including this fifty cent honeycomb piece. The reverse features a honeycomb that spells out the numbers "50" with the dates "1965 2015" and the legend "ANNIVERSARY OF THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN MINT". The obverse features a standard Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of HM Quen Elizabeth II with the legend "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2015".

Prior to 1965 Australian coins were struck at branches of the Royal Mint in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. Construction of the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) began in 1963 in Canberra. The mint was opened in 1965 and was immediately tasked with the enormous job of producing new coins for the introduction of decimal currency. The mint has since proved itself as one of the most technologically advanced in the world and can now produce up to two million coins a day.
