The Medi-mazing! one dollar coin was issued in 2014 as the first release in the three coin 'Clever Australia' series. The reverse features depictions of five major Australian medical breakthroughs. The reverse legend states "ONE DOLLAR - CLEVER AUSTRALIA". The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend and denomination "ELIZABETH II - AUSTRALIA 2013 - 1 DOLLAR".

The five medical breakthroughs featured on this coin are Crytallography (Sir William Bragg), the pacemaker (Dr. Mark Lidwill), penicillin (Howard Florey), IVF embryo freezing (Prof. Carl Wood), and spray-on skin for burns victims (Prof. Fiona Wood). This piece endeavours to both commemorate the impressive historical achievements of Australian medical research while also encouraging future generations of Australian medical researchers.
