This 2014 Flying Corps piece is part of the Australia at War collection. The reverse features an artists impression of a photograph housed as the Australian War Memorial. The image includes a group of five Australian Flying Corp Officers in front of an Arvo 504K biplane. (Australian War Memorial, 1919) The reverse text states "AUSTRALIAN FLYING CORPS". The obverse has the standard Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of HM Queen Elizabeth II with the legend "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2014".

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) was originally known as the Australian Flying Corps and served alongside their British counterpart. Following the success of the Royal Air Force during WWI, the Australian Air Force got its Royal approval in 1921. Since this time it has been involved in a variety of combat missions during WWII, Korea, the Gulf war and most recently in Afghanistan.
