The Royal Australian Army Chaplains operates within the Australian Army and provides ordained clergy to minister to the service men and women. Commonly referred to as padres, they gave support by advising commanders and their staff on religious, spiritual, moral, ethical, cultural and welfare matters. They also provided pastoral care to soldiers and their families along with advice to the chaplaincy chain of command and to coordinate and lead chaplaincy activities within units. They are never armed, even without a sword on parade. The Royal Australian Mint produced a commemorative coin within the Australia Remembers series to honour these officers and their important role within the Australian Army.

The reverse was designed by Wojciech Pietranik and shows his impression of an Army Chaplain with his Bible giving advice and comfort to a troubled soldier. It shows the legend AUSTRALIA REMEMBERS ARMY CHAPLAINS and is just one of the series Australia Remember. Other twenty cent coins in the series are War Historians,Merchant Navy, Service Nursesand Fromelles. The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of HM Queen Elizabeth II along with the legend ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2013.

The Army Chaplains cover two main religions within the service, those being Christian and Jewish. Army Chaplains travelled with the first fleet back in 1787 andformed the Royal Austrlian Army Chaplians Department (RAAChD) by 1913. Since then they have served wherever required whether in war or peace to help their comrades cope with the stresses and strains of Army life. The Army Chaplain corps motto is 'In this Sign Conquer' (Army, 2014) .
