?

Between 2008 and 2013 the Royal Australian Mint produced a series of one dollar coins that commemorated the contributions made by a number of Inspirational Australians. This piece celebrates the life of muscian Slim Dusty. The reverse was designed by A. Stokic and features a portrait of Slim Dusty with a guitar in the background. The legend states "INSPIRATIONAL AUSTRALIANS: COUNTRY MUSIC" and "SLIM DUSTY 1927 - 2003". The reverse features the standard Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Australia's King of Country was born in 1927 at Nulla Nulla Creek in New South Wales. In 1958 Slim received Australia's first ever Gold Record for his song "A Pub With No Beer". Over his life Slim Dusty would go on to release more than a hundred country music albums.
