This Demeter piece was released by the Perth Mint in 2013 as part
of the Famous Ships that Never Sailed series. The series was issued to celebrate a number of famous fictional ships featured
in literary and musical history. The reverse of this particular coin
features a representation of the Demeter with the legend 'Dracula - The Demeter.' The
obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II with the
legend
'QUEEN ELIZABETH II - 1OZ 999 SILVER - 2013 TUVALU.'
Dracula was written by Irish author Bram Stoker in the final years of the 19th century. The story begins by following
English lawyer Jonathan Harker who travels to Castle Dracula in Transylvania in order to assist in a real estate transfer.
He finds that Castle Dracula is occupied by the mysterious Count Dracula. After discovering that the Count feasts on blood
to survive Harker attempts to kill the Count. The Count flees, boarding a ship entitled the Demeter and travelling to England.
