The Sugar Glider is a species of gliding possum found in parts of mainland Australia, New Guinea and some of the Indonesian
Islands.
(Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland, 2017)
They are nocturnal creatures with large eyes and gliding membranes that extends from the forefoot to the hindfoot. As
the seasons change the diet of the sugar glider changes as well - they are omnivores, often subsisting on insects during
the summer and tree sap or gum throughout the winter.
(Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania, 2017)
The natural habitat of the species is threatened by human encroachment but they are not considered endangered due to
their ability to adapt to new areas and survive in small patches of remnant bush.
