This Opals piece was released by the Perth Mint in 2008 as part of the Treasures of Australia series. The series was issued to celebrate some of Australia's natural resources. This particular coin features a half circle locket containing Australian opals. The reverse houses the inscription 'TREASURES OF AUSTRALIA.' The obverse houses a small Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II with the legend 'ELIZABETH II - AUSTRALIA 2008 - 1 DOLLAR.'
