The Australian Peacekeeping one dollar was issued in 2007 to commemorate sixty years of Australian involvement in United
Nations peacekeeping missions. The reverse features the helping hands
of Australia holding the world with an olive branch and a white dove. The reverselegend
"50TH ANNIVERSARY OF AUSTRALIAN PEACEKEEPING - 1 DOLLAR". The obverse
features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the
legend
and denomination "ELIZABETH II - AUSTRALIA 2007".
In 1947 four Australian's were deployed to Indonesia as part of the United Nations Good Offices Commission (UNGOC). This
was the first peacekeeping mission not only for Australia but also for the United Nations in totality. Since this operation,
thousands of Australian troops have been deployed in peace keeping missions around the world.
