To celebrate 20 years since the release of the one dollarcoin the Royal Australian Mint has released a six coin set as part of the Masterpieces in Silver collection. The unique collection features reissues of original test pieces, unreleased designs, and other pieces relevant to the development of the one dollar coin. (Royal Australian Mint, 2004) This 'Dollar Decade' piece was first issued in 1994 to mark a decade years since the introduction of the dollar coin. The reverse was designed by Vladimir Gottwald and depicts the transition made from the one dollar denomination to the current one dollar coin. Above the design is the date '1984' and below the design is the date '1994'. Gottwald's initials can be found in the bottom right corner of the piece (see image below). The obverse houses the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II with the legend "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2004".
