The Vietnam Veterans served with the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force. The conflict lasted from the 23rd May, 1962 to the 29th April, 1975 (Department of Veterans Affairs, 2014) . There is a Vietnam Veterans Roll where names can be found of the men and women that served their country. The Vietnam conflict is one of the most widely discussed since the second world war. There was evidence that chemical weapons had been used and troops were subjected to an awful array of substances which have a long lasting effect on their health. The effects were varied and widespread and this issue has been debated for many years in support of the veterans that suffer ill effects from the conflict. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, in Washington DC, is to have The Vietnam Veterans Education Centre (VVEC) adjacent to it in order that when Americans remember the Vietnam War that they will consider the vast number of Australian service men and women that contributed and fought bravely alongside them. The Australian Government has donated more than three million USD to help its development. The centre will contain a time line of the war along with the faces and stories of those who served. A selection of the more than 200,000 items left at the Wall can be seen and some of these items are linked to Australia.
