The RAN has a great history over the 90 years which commenced with a baptism of fire with the onset of World War I. At the time, the Navy Fleet was just three years old with just 3800 personnel which included some 850 from the British Royal Navy. They had to cope with diverse events, which they did admirably, which set the foundation for a great number of years to come. They had to deal with German forces and controlled islands in the Pacific Ocean as well as an attack on Sydney Harbour itself from Japanese midget submarines. The Royal Australian Navy certainly had a lot to cope with, especially with such a young team. The roll of battle honours since it's inception is long indeed.
The following are a list of known battles and campaigns during the past years.
