The 1990 five dollar Australian Kookaburra coin was the first pure silver bullion coin series released in Australia (The Perth Mint Australia, 2016) , with a maximum mintage of 300,000 (The Perth Mint Australia, 2016) . Minted at the Perth mint in.999 silver, the coin reflects the mint's popular theme of native Australian fauna (The Perth Mint Australia, 2016) . The reverse, designed by Dr Stuart Devlin, depicts a kookaburra sitting atop a tree stump, surrounded by native flora. It also bears the legend 'THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA 1 OZ. 999 SILVER 1990.' The obverse features Raphael Maklouf's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the legend 'ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 5 DOLLARS.' (The Perth Mint Australia, 2016) (The Perth Mint Australia, 2016)
