In 1952 the Malaya and British Borneo dollar was established for use in Singapore, the Federation of Malaya, North Borneo and Sarawak with coins first issued in 1953 with the one cent first issued in 1956. The One Cent continued the square design used since 1919 with the legend updated to MALAYA AND BRITISH BORNEO around an inner circle with 1 CENT inside. The obverse features the young head effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the legend, QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND.The issue was struck in four years from 1956 to 1961 before being replaced with a round one cent issued in 1962. All four dates are readily available in mint state.
