In 1952 the Malaya and British Borneo dollar was established for use in Singapore, the Federation of Malaya, North Borneo
and Sarawak with coins first issued in 1953. The Ten Cent continued with an only slightly updated design when compared with
the first ten cent coin in 1871. The reverse features the new legend
of MALAYA AND BRITISH BORNEO around an inner circle with 10 CENTS inside. The obverse features
the young head effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the legend, QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND.The
issue was struck in six years from 1953 to 1961 though with a number of mintmark variations
for 1957 and 1961 leaving a total of 9 issues to collect. All years but one are readily available in mint
state with the 1961-KN fairly affordable though scarce.
