Sales History

?

In 1952 the Malaya and British Borneo dollar was established for use in Singapore, the Federation of Malaya, North Borneo and Sarawak with coins first issued in 1953. The Five Cent continued with an only slightly updated design when compared with the first five cent coin in 1871. The reverse features the new legend of MALAYA AND BRITISH BORNEO around an inner circle with 5 CENTS inside. The obverse features the young head effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the legend, QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND.The issue was struck in four years from 1953 to 1961 though with a number of mintmark variations for all years but 1953 leaving a total of 10 issues to collect. All years are readily available in mint state though the Heaton mint issues are scarce and the 1961-KN with a small mintmark is very scarce and may require some patience if sought in higher mint state grades.
