One of the scarcest business strike issues of Sarawak, the 1906-H Fifty Cent is without a doubt a key date with a paltry mintage of 10,000. Under the White Raj, which started from James Brooke then eventually to his nephew Charles Brooke, the fifty cent is the biggest denomination struck in Sarawak. In 1906, according to the British Empire Census, The British Empire ruled 1/5 of the entire world. As the empire continued to grow, so too did the Sarawak economy.

Rare in all grades, the 1906-H Fifty Cent is seldom seen in auction witnessed by how one of the last uncirculated example sold back in 2007 a PCGS graded MS64. (Sarawak: British colonial silver 50 Cents 1906-H,Rajah C. Brooke but the era of Edward VII, KM-11, MS64 PCGS, a beautiful piece, shar..., 2007) Interestingly, there are a select few 1906-H Five Cents, Ten Cents, Twenty Cents and Fifty Cents most of them graded PCGS SP68. Arguably from the same badge perhaps specially prepared and minted for officials and dignitaries, the 1906-H Fifty Cent example is graded PCGS SP68 sold for over $20,000 in 2009.
