In January 1901 King Edward VII acceded to the British throne with the first business strike five cent pieces struck in 1902. The reverse design features a partitioned ring design with 5 in the inner circle with the legend, STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. FIVE CENTS with the date following. The obverse features a crowned bust of King Edward VII with the legend , EDWARD VII KING & EMPEROR by Royal Mint engraver, George W. De Saules.The issue was struck in 1902, 1903 and in 1910 at the Bombay mint. All three issues are reasonably affordable in all grades though some time may be required if higher mint state graded pieces are desired; This applies particularly to the first two issues.
